Biological Safety Cabinets

CLASS III Biosafety Cabinet

CLASS III
BIOSAFETY CABINET

CLASS III Biosafety Cabinet are advanced technology devices designed for working with high-risk biological materials. They feature a fully sealed structure that maximally protects both the user and the environment. They are especially used in laboratories working with pathogenic microorganisms, toxins, and potential bioterrorism agents. These cabinets create a complete barrier between the user and the workspace, providing the highest level of laboratory safety.

CLASS III Biological Safety Cabinet - Orkalab
Biosafety Cabinet in International Standards

Our CLASS III Biosafety Cabinetmodels are manufactured in compliance with international standards.

  • Full compliance with NSF/ANSI 49, EN 12469, and ISO 14644-1 standards.
  • CE certified electrical and mechanical safety.
Designed for working with high risk biological materials with a fully sealed structure!
CLASS III Biosafety Cabinet Features
Fully Sealed Structure (Gas-Tight)
The most distinctive feature of CLASS III cabinets is that the workspace is completely sealed. No air inside the cabinet escapes directly into the laboratory environment. Users access the workspace via glove ports, and all operations are performed within this closed system.

• Sealed Body: Designed to be completely airtight to prevent gas and air leaks.
• Positive Pressure Glove Ports: Users can safely operate without direct contact through integrated glove ports.

Airflow and Filtration Technology
• HEPA and ULPA Filtration:
  - Incoming Air Filtration: Air entering the cabinet is sterilized by passing through HEPA filters.
  - Exhaust Air Filtration: All air exiting the cabinet is filtered through HEPA or ULPA filters and safely discharged outside the laboratory.
• Fully External Ventilation:
  - CLASS III cabinets discharge all exhaust air outside. This air is safely disposed of via the building HVAC system or an independent exhaust system.

Structural Materials and Manufacturing Details
Materials used in CLASS III biosafety cabinets are selected to be resistant to both chemical and biological agents and to ensure long durability.

Cabinet Body:
• Stainless Steel (AISI 304/316):
  - Interior surfaces are made from AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel, which is easy to clean and resistant to chemicals and abrasion.
  - AISI 316 stainless steel provides high resistance to acids, bases, and corrosive chemicals.
Glove Ports and Insulation Materials:
• Gloves Made of EPDM or Neoprene:
  - Glove ports are equipped with EPDM or neoprene gloves for high chemical resistance and long-term use.
  - Gloves are integrated with the cabinet to ensure airtightness.
Windows and Visual Panels:
• Tempered Safety Glass or Polycarbonate:
  - The front panel is made from tempered glass or chemically resistant polycarbonate for high durability and safety.
  - The visual area is wide to increase user comfort and facilitate easy observation of the workspace.

Control and Safety Systems
• Touch or Digital Control Panel:
  - Provides a user-friendly interface for managing airflow, filter status, positive pressure, and alarm systems.
• Sensor and Alarm Systems:
  - Alerts users audibly and visually in cases such as airflow interruption or filter clogging.
• Positive Pressure Control:
  - Positive pressure is applied to glove ports to provide full protection to the user.

Sterilization Systems
Integrated sterilization systems minimize contamination risks in CLASS III cabinets.
• UV Sterilization System:
  - Equipped with a UV lamp to disinfect interior surfaces and equipment.
• Gas Sterilization Connection:
  - The cabinet includes connection points suitable for formaldehyde or hydrogen peroxide gas sterilization.
• Fully Sealed Structure: Maximizes user and environmental protection.
• HEPA and ULPA Filtration: High-level filtration of incoming and exhaust air.
• Chemically Resistant Material: Long-lasting and safe use.
• Positive Pressure Control: Prevents air leakage from glove ports.
• Sterilization Systems: Integrated UV and gas sterilization capabilities.
CLASS III biosafety cabinets can be used in all laboratories working with high-risk biological and chemical materials.

Microbiology and Molecular Biology Laboratories:
• Work with dangerous pathogens.
• DNA and RNA manipulations.

Bioterrorism and Public Health Research Centers:
• Analysis and safe storage of bioterror agents.

Pharmaceutical Production:
• Sterile filling lines and production of drugs containing toxic substances.

Clinical and Veterinary Laboratories:
• Diagnosis and research of high-risk pathogens.
